Colleges and employers alike look for similar skills that high school graduates must have to succeed. It is important choose courses that will best prepare you for what comes next after high school. For example, taking Algebra I and Geometry in middle school and early in high school is a good indicator of future college and career success. The following list of high school courses are recommended to best prepare you to meet future demands:

Math: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, a course in data-analysis and statistics
English: Four years emphasizing literature, writing, reasoning, and communication skills
Science: Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Social Studies: World History, US History, US Government, Geography
Electives: At least three years in various disciplines including social sciences, computer technology, and the arts
